TI Remote Signature – for Providers of Services in the Healthcare Sector

Digital Signature for the Healthcare Sector

In future, the TI remote signature will enable all employees within the healthcare sector to use qualified electronic signatures within and outside the Telematics Infrastructure, regardless of whether they currently have a physical Electronic Health Professional Card (eHBA) or not.

Whether in the doctor’s practice or in other medical facilities such as hospitals or rehab/care centres: The TI remote signature makes it possible to sign electronic documents online within and outside the TI in a legally secure manner in the primary system, such as the PMS or HIS (practice management system or hospital information system) – without having to insert the eHBA.

The method is based on the Sign-Me Remote Signature solution, which has been tried and tested on the market for years, is provided by the qualified trust service provider D-Trust and is certified by TÜViT (see Certificate for more information). Your data remains on the highly secure servers in the D-Trust security area at all times, and to which only authorised administrators have access. With the TI remote signature, you can provide qualified electronic signatures for digital documents in the healthcare sector, such as electronic certificates of incapacity for work (eAU), e-prescriptions, health insurance statements, electronic discharge or medical reports and other documents needing to be personally signed within and outside the Telematics Infrastructure, thereby allowing you to optimise your processes and speed up your workflows.

Your advantages at a glance

  • Legally secure – eIDAS-compliant and legally secure electronic signature with two-factor authentication within and outside the Telematics Infrastructure
  • Calculable – transparent calculation of costs
  • Economical – licence once for flexible usage in multiple primary systems
  • Strategic – usage across an institution is possible and practical
  • Uncomplicated – can be applied for in just a few steps and via identification when ordering your eHBA/eBA

Secure Electronic Signature – Mobile, Regardless of Hardware

250 million e-prescriptions had already been issued digitally in Germany by summer 2024. Currently, this requires every signatory to have access to their eHBA and a card reader with a PIN function. The situation is similar for all other TI applications that require a qualified electronic signature (QES), such as eAU or electronic doctor’s letters. However, this does not have to be the case: The eIDAS Regulation creates the legal framework behind the remotely triggered qualified signature for signing electronic documents. In addition, a number of legislative projects are forcing extensive digitisation – in this case of hospital processes – and will thus also enable the use of qualified electronic signatures within the TI in future.

Healthcare providers generally have an eHBA/eBA which serves as a qualified electronic signature within the TI, but the use of this is linked to a card terminal or card reader. With the TI remote signature, all authorised service providers can sign documents electronically in a qualified manner via a web interface in their primary systems on their desktop PC or with a mobile device, independent of hardware, i.e., without a card or card reader.

The Easiest Way to a TI Remote Signature Account

Doctors, dentists, pharmacists and all other healthcare providers can now already consent to use the necessary identification to create a TI remote signature account when applying for an eHBA/eBA from D-Trust. The already verified identity will then be used for creating the TI remote signature account.

Once you have created a TI remote signature account, you can sign electronically at any time using any mobile device – without a signature card and card reader. Your secure authentication when triggering the signature is guaranteed via two-factor authentication (SMS-TAN or biometrics/fingerprint).

Do you have any further questions?

The use of the TI remote signature is usually embedded in a practice or pharmacy management system, hospital information system, billing system or similar healthcare application. If you, as a provider, are interested in integrating this then please contact us:
